This ain’t your typical doughnut shop.
With 16 flavours on the menu — along with the option to mix and match toppings to your own personal preference — Saskatoon’s newest doughnut shop, which specializes in creating the perfect mini doughnuts, is bringing the traditional fairground treat to dessert enthusiasts year round.
“It’s all about hot mini doughnuts here,” said Dapper Doughnut co-owner Parth Patel. “Right now, you can only get these doughnuts once a year at the Exhibition — but even when it comes to that they only do cinnamon sugar (flavour).”
The Dapper Doughnut team also offers on-site catering during the warmer months and can create the perfect edible logo to top the treats no matter what the occasion.
Because each batch of doughnuts is cooked fresh to order, the many offerings at The Dapper Doughnut are best enjoyed in the restaurant, Patel said. Making it the perfect space to head out on a date or simply enjoy a sweet treat with friends or family.
“Generally in Canada, all we think about is those big doughnuts in those display cases — people aren’t used to fresh doughnuts,” he said. “These are cake-style doughnuts — best eaten fresh — and because we are using a different flour, if you leave them out they’ll get dry.”
But, if you can’t eat the doughnuts when they’re fresh, Patel suggests warming them up in the microwave for 10 seconds to renew the fresh cooked flavour.
And if you want an even sweeter treat, Patel suggests trying out the Dapper Doughnut’s specialty loaded hot chocolates or doughnut milkshakes, which is exactly what it sounds like — fresh mini doughnuts blended into the milkshake flavour of your choosing and garnished with yet another delicious doughnut on top.
“No other doughnut shop is going to give you fresh, hot doughnuts at 9 p.m.,” Patel said. “And if I am giving you fresh doughnuts why would you want to wait (to eat them) until the next day?”

Vinita Patel, left, and Jignesh Patel, owners of The Dapper Doughnut in Saskatoon’s StoneBridge neighbourhood, can be seen in front of the Dapper Doughnut Kitchen on Feb. 23, 2019. The first franchise of its kind in Saskatoon and in Canada, the shop offers a wide variety of well-dressed desserts.
